Grishneshwar temple is a significant pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is the last and the smallest Jyotirlinga out of twelve. The temple attracts followers of Shiva from all over the country.

Grishneshwar is situated in very close proximity to renowned Ellora caves in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. It is 256 kilometers away from Pune. S9 Travels will arrange cab facility for pilgrimage tour to Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga.

Information about construction of original temple is not available. The original temple destroyed by invaders of Dehli Sultanate. After the Moghul era it was rebuilt. Current temple is built by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar during 18th century. The structure of temple is placed on high stage and the carvings on the walls illustrate mythological stories. Temple has magnificent five storey Shikhara.

Shiva Linga is placed within inner chamber of the temple. Like other Jyotirlinga Grishneshwar is also self originated Shiva Linga. Devotees are allowed inside chamber to perform Pooja or Abhisheka to the Deity. There is dress code to enter the inner chamber.

This region comes under Marathwada, and has humid weather so winter months are best to planning your pilgrimage. World Heritage sites Ajanta, Ellora caves and Aurangabad are close by must visit places. You can make comfortable stay at Aurangabad city.
