This temple is dedicated to Durga or Shakti. It is one amongst the Sade Teen Shakti Peeth of Maharashtra. Many devotees visit here and find peace with the blessings of Saptashrungi Mata. The temple will be crowded on important days like Friday or during nine days of Navaratri. Chaitrotsva is famous festival celebrated here every year.

Saptashrungi means seven peaks, the temple is said to be on seven hills, and So Goddess Shakti is called as Saptashrungi Mata. The stories related to the place are found in puranas and local folklore. It is also believed that Lord Rama along with Seeta and Lakshmana visited the temple. The idol of Goddess is said to be self originated. Daily Pooja, Abhisheka and Artai are offered to the goddess. After climbing stairs of 500 steps you will reach the temple. There is ropeway facility available, so easily one can reach the temple.

If you visit on festival days the crowd will be more in the temple. Time between Octobers to March is ideal for pilgrimage to Saptashrungi. Trimbakeshwar Jyotirling and Nasik are close by places.
